Your Problems
Think about the following questions in relation to your NPD activities
- Are your new products invariably ready for market later than you planned?
- Do you have a poor understanding of the relative priorities of each project within your NPD portfolio?
- Do you have conflicts between the resource requirements of NPD projects and other business demands such as sales project support or resolving field issues?
- Do you suffer from problems at the interfaces between the business functions that are most critical for product development (product management, development/engineering, manufacturing and marketing)?
- Do you have development teams working to unclear specifications?
- Do you have an unclear view of the status of progress of NPD projects?
- Do you have products ready for launch that do not comprehensively meet the customer requirements?
- Do you sometimes find yourself committed to large development projects that consume much of your development resource and have long timescales associated with them?
If the answer to any of these is yes then it is likely that your NPD activities are not as efficient or productive as they could be
